Where I Come From
The fjord in this video is just up the road from my hometown. I thought everybody had something like that in their backyard until I grew up.
I also thought everyone put rum and fruitcake out for Santa on Christmas Eve, but that's another story.
This one's even lovelier, and shot mostly in and around the city of St. John's, where I was living when Patrick found me and called me away. I am the Seal Wife*. But I keep my skin near.
*Well, one who lived happily on her two legs ever after, let's hope...

So beautiful and idyllic. Do you miss it?
Santa has had pizza, cookies and milk at our house for years (carrots for the reindeer as well), but I'm certain he'd prefer rum over milk. Not so sure about the fruitcake over pizza.
Looks like you were blessed to grow-up where you did. Beautiful videos.
It is beautiful, and yes, I miss it. I'd like to spend summers there, but I don't think I could go back year-round, for keeps. Partly due to the climate, partly for other reasons that are too complicated to go into here.
I miss it too, but I will be going back this summer for a family reunion. My nannie turns 80 this year so everyone is coming home to surprise her.
Those commercials air on a local channel here and I tear up every time they come on.
Whoah.
Oh, and Declan thinks Santa drinks Guinness.
ohhhhh the videos are so lovely.. enjoyed my visit here this morning early. take care and happy weekend.
You should spend summers there - it would be great for the kids. I love the idea of Newfoundland, in summer, with a Great Big Sea concert thrown in. I think I'm not such a big fan in winter - because I'm sure it's beautiful and COLD and I'm not sure the beautiful cancels out the COLD.
I lived in Nova Scotia from 1971-89, and I didn't visit Newfoundland until 2003. As soon as I saw St. John's I realized that I'd missed out on something wonderful.
